TG19_HWM_KU08 Been listening to punk rock for close to 40 years. Like most who are getting a little long in the tooth, not much excites me these days - I hear a new band that gets me fired up about every 3-5 years. Such is the case right here. This records slaps start to finish. My only complaint is that I want way more of it. A perfect mix of hardcore & post-hardcore, with tinges of anthemic melody & dad rock for balance. I cannot stop listening - and for me, that's the rarest of compliments. Cheers, boys. Favorite track: Blitzer.

1.
I found a beach to hold me down and I can see // what little work I’ve done has got the best of me // I wrote a thousand words to tell you all about the way // I made some early plans and burnt it all down later in the day // there’s no vacation for me now // some people need a place to be let down // I’ll write again // I promise you // somebody’s sad in heaven // and you might be too // I punched the gate and broke the only hand I had // I found the coast and buried wallets in the sand // there’s no vacation for me now // some people need a place to be let down
2.
24 Elsinore 01:33
If life’s a vat // we’re trapped inside // mice in a bottle, a practical joke // not paying for this 2-4 this time // drink your way out // break down the wall // the heaven that we promised our younger selves // wasn’t heaven at all
3.
Denim Days 01:16
I swore I would not // be caught alive or dead // with these cliches around my tongue // but here we are now // and it’s neither here nor there // what people know you will become // so let’s not fret or let the truth destroy our lives // we’ve got the rest of them to make up little lies // we tell in basements, kitchens, stairwells, yeah we’ll all be fine // through all life’s seasons // through heavens and hells // we made do // you even talked to God // what did She even say? // since that day you’ve been shaking // so let the things you know become the gravity // that pulls you through the floor each night so you can see // yourself torn inside out by all life’s dime-a-dozen reoccurring dreams
4.
Dragged into daylight by the hair // I knew you in another life // what made you great was how you knew // the different ways to know you’re right // and make excuses just in time // convince your family you were fine // the debts you built up on the side // a bigger picture and you tried // to make it last // to beat the house // to leave a scar // kitchen counter // broken teeth // another stranger on the lease // kitchen floor // 10-hour sleep // some passing faith to make the leap // what made you great // was how you knew // the different ways to know you’re right // dragged into daylight // cheap sunglasses on the ground // I knew you in another life // you drove the car // and burnt it out in California // convinced your family you were fine // the dashboard melted // became a different kind of glue // what made you great was how you knew // dragged out of corner bars // Cheap Sunglasses on the jukebox // I knew you in another life // you drove the car // and burnt it out in California // convinced your family you were fine // your family told me you’d be fine
5.
Blitzer 01:34
I’ve got a brand new set of blisters // and some lessons in my head // a game to some, to me a road I’ll walk // until the day I’m dead // I made good on my promise // to the rulebook that you wrote // or found on a mountain in 2000 // in the days before we spoke // 9 years in // same set of glasses day to day I go the places that you go // I say the same things that you say // we ended up becoming good // together in the money pit // now everything’s a vodka-red for me, whatever year I’m in // nobody in here’s // above the law // there’s rules to follow // you’ll be better off // the gods are watching // and I’ll be home soon // this one’s called Rocketman and you should sing it too // red // white // red // it’s all I ever see // the world’s a million different colors that never meant that much to me // white // red // let’s play another round // I’ll sell the steel chair to the head this time, wake up tomorrow on the ground
6.
In another year // you won’t remember who I am // but I’ll be back // holding pattern, circle and I’ll land // ‘cause I’ve been building bridges // bridges that are strong and will never burn // and I’ve been making big plans // ‘cause some stones still might turn // shower me with praise I don’t deserve // call me a hero, let me know I’m being heard // I’m going places you should know // an old child’s wonder left long ago // it’s a quiet place // for a man who thought he could be great // and now I’m lying on the couch again // trying to climb down another day // I’ll read The Good Book, I’ll study tape // I swear I’ll go to Disney World for real this time to dull the pain // send me back for another college try // or take me out of here and bring me back to life

We wrote these songs over the course of 18 months in 2018-2019. A lot changed for us all during these short months, but we swam upstream and overcame the obstacles of schedules and geography to build a set of songs we felt genuinely proud of. We recorded these songs in October of 2020 at Savaria Studios in Brooklyn, NY with Jon Markson.

We are eternally grateful to Jon and Skylar for making this experience not only safe and possible, but also very enjoyable, in the midst of a global pandemic. These songs were mastered by Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room in early 2021. Biggest thanks to Mark, Rob, and Brian at Little Elephant for putting this out there and thanks to Bridjet and Hugo for being advocates for us in the press. Last but certainly not least, thank you to Vito and Josh for always making sure we had amazing shows to play, and thanks to everyone who’s embraced us warmly over the years.
